OBSESSIVE-COMPULSIVE DISORDER (OCD)
Common signs and symptoms
Are you feeling overwhelmed by thoughts about germs or disturbing mental images that seem to pop up out of nowhere? Do you find yourself holding very rigid expectations about tasks, like cleaning, or constantly worrying that something bad might happen—despite having evidence that it won’t? Maybe you create detailed, color-coded lists or spend extra time making sure everything is "just right," even if it causes you to be late to commitments. You might even feel like you can't leave the house until certain tasks are completed, even though you know there's no real danger if they’re left undone.

If any of these sound familiar, it could be a sign of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD).

At Willow Tree, our counselors are here to help you explore whether you might be experiencing OCD. We can also provide guidance on how to better understand your symptoms and give you tools to manage them. Research shows that OCD responds well to counseling, like Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and medication. If you feel that medication might help, we can also refer you to a provider for evaluation.
